About the Boerne Concert Band

Our mission...

To provide a service to the community thru music.

To provide, as a non-profit organization, a venue for local musicians to present popular music in concert for family oriented audiences to enjoy.

As an educational goal, to reach local schools, to inspire students of music and encourage them to join the band in concert, to gain expertise during the learning process.

To develop a close camaraderie within the band that promotes the enjoyment of performing together at their highest level possible and that is felt by both musicians and the audience.

To develop a repertoire of music that is entertaining to the audiences of all ages as well as enjoyable to the performers, by introducing them to a wide range of musical styles.

Larry graduated from Southwest Texas State University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in music. He then spent 3 years in the 4th and 5th Army Bands, where he became the assistant Supply Sergeant, trumpet section leader, and director of the Army Jazz Band.

After leaving the Army, Larry spent 36 years teaching middle bands where his bands were outstanding and won countless awards and many of his students became professional musicians. He and his wife, Cheryl, retired from teaching in 2010 and have 4 granddaughters who spend most of the week at their house. Cheryl and Larry also operate three ranches.

Larry currently conducts three local musical organizations - The Boerne Village Band (longest continuously performing German Band in the world outside of Germany), the Boerne Concert Band which he started  when he retired from public school, and the newest in the Boerne music family: The Boerne Jazz Band.
